Door-to-door shifting is the most comprehensive relocation service available. In many cities and from many movers, "door-to-door" is just marketing language for what is actually "loaded at your door and dumped at your new door." That is not door-to-door in the real sense. At DSR Logistics, door-to-door means we walk in at your existing home empty-handed and we walk out of your new home with everything in place, boxes removed, and you holding your first cup of tea in the new living room.
This is the service most families want when they move โ because moving is stressful enough without also having to worry about packing, lifting, coordinating, tracking, unpacking, organising, and dealing with debris. We take all of that off your hands. You focus on your family, your new job, your children's school admission, your elderly parents' adjustment. We handle the physical relocation end-to-end.

You call, WhatsApp, or fill the enquiry form. We schedule a free pre-move survey โ either in-person or via video call. A surveyor walks through your home room by room, noting every major item, asking clarifying questions ("Will this piano travel with you or is it being sold?", "Do you want the books numbered and boxed by shelf?"), photographing large items, and measuring any oversized pieces. Typical survey takes 45-90 minutes depending on home size.
Within 24 hours, you receive an itemised quote: packing materials cost, labour cost, transport cost, GST, optional insurance premium, and any add-ons you requested (storage, piano specialist, pet coordination, etc.). No lump sum, no vague pricing โ everything listed transparently.
Once you accept the quote, we lock the move date and block our crew. A dedicated project manager is assigned to your move โ this person is your single point of contact from now until after delivery. You get their direct mobile number.
Pre-move tasks: we send you a pre-move checklist (what to do yourself 2 weeks before, 1 week before, 3 days before), we coordinate with your destination building (society NOC, lift booking, security pass), we arrange parking and utility access at origin (for narrow lanes or restricted entry), and we plan crew composition and truck size based on your inventory.
Our crew arrives at the agreed time. They are in uniform, carrying ID cards, and introduce themselves by name. The project manager briefs the crew in front of you. Before any packing starts: you walk them through your home, pointing out anything that needs special care โ wedding sari, grandmother's painting, electronics warranty cards stored in a specific drawer, prescribed medicines in the fridge. They make notes.
Packing progresses room by room โ typically kitchen first, then living room, then bedrooms, then balcony/storeroom/garage last. Each room is completed before moving to the next. For each room: first, fragile items are wrapped individually (bubble wrap, acid-free paper, foam cushioning); then they go into sturdy 5-ply cartons; each carton is labeled with room name, a unique number, a category (FRAGILE / KITCHEN / BOOKS / CLOTHING), and an inventory number that links to our master list.
Special categories: electronics get original packaging if available or custom anti-static wrapping, large furniture gets shrink-wrapped and corner-protected, mattresses get mattress bags, clothing gets wardrobe boxes (no folding required for hanging clothes), artwork gets custom wooden crating if antique or above โน50,000 in value, and kitchen crockery gets individual bubble-wrap plus cushioned separator boxes.
At end of packing (typically 6-10 hours for a 2-3 BHK), you receive a complete inventory list โ every box with its contents summary, every piece of furniture with its condition noted. You walk through the inventory with the project manager, verify accuracy, and sign the inventory. A copy goes with the shipment, a copy stays with us, and a digital copy comes to your email/WhatsApp. This inventory is the basis for any insurance claim if something is damaged in transit.
Truck reverses to your building. Loading is sequenced โ heavy items first at the bottom, lighter items on top, fragile items toward the truck wall (not the centre), mattresses and soft items used as buffers. Each item is logged as it is loaded. When the truck is fully loaded, the door is sealed โ and the seal number is shared with you. This seal is not broken until unloading at destination.
The truck moves. GPS tracking is enabled, and you get a shareable link to see live location. For local Kolkata moves, transit is 1-2 hours. For outstation moves, transit could be 5-7 days โ and during those days, you get daily updates ("Today reached Dhanbad", "Tonight stay at Nagpur checkpost").
Truck arrives at your new home. If you are there, great; if not, you can authorise a family member or trusted person in advance. We prefer you are present โ it makes placement decisions smoother. Before unloading, the seal is broken in your presence and the seal number verified against what was shared earlier. Then unloading begins โ same sequence in reverse. Each box and piece of furniture is taken off the truck and checked against inventory.
This is where door-to-door differs from lesser services. Every piece goes to its intended room. Beds are reassembled โ by our crew, not by you, and with all original hardware. Wardrobes assembled and placed. Mattresses unboxed and placed on beds. Kitchen boxes opened; crockery placed on shelves; cookware placed in cabinets. Living room โ sofa positioned as per your preference, TV mounted if a wall bracket exists, cables organised. Bedrooms โ curtains rehung if you had them down, bedlinen unpacked, clothing hung in wardrobes, books shelved (roughly, in the order they were in your old shelves).
All packing material โ used cartons, bubble wrap, tape, wooden crating, shrink wrap โ is collected, loaded back into our truck, and taken away. Your new home is not left with a garbage-pile of 40 cartons. Final walkthrough: project manager walks through every room with you, verifies placement, checks for any damages, and takes feedback. You sign the delivery confirmation. Move is officially complete.
24 hours after delivery, our customer service team calls to check in. Anything missing? Anything damaged that was not noticed on day-of? Any settlement issues with the new home? We address these promptly. For any damages, insurance claim process is initiated if you have insurance; otherwise, good-faith partial refund is discussed based on our damage policy.
